Teresa Duchscherer

Born and raised on a farm in Antler, North Dakota, I was born into a life of love for horses. At just 3 years old I spent many hours on trail rides with my mom. During my youth I grew up riding Arabian and Quarter horses while also getting perspectives from different breeds. However, I will always tell you my Arabian horse Taz was my first true love.

I enjoyed participating in 4H as a youth and entered my first horse show at age 10. My favorite pastime growing up were the days off from farm work that were spent riding countless hours with friends and just being out in the barn with the horses. Even after graduating, I always found myself going back to the farm to be with the horses that I loved so dearly.

In the fall of 2008, my husband Josh and I, decided to adopt a rescue Arabian gelding named Ali. Later we added a paint filly named Zadi , whom along with Ali would change my life forever.

I met Jenna Mickelson in the summer of 2009 after sending horses to her for training and personal lessons.  One particular lesson on Zadi at Jenna’s sparked something inside me and I was inspired to expand my horsemanship skills. From that day forward, riding had changed from just a hobby to pure passion and life purpose.

I also have expanded my horse riding knowledge through attending a multitude of clinics and through personal lessons. I made it a point to learn many different disciplines of riding from various trainers, clinicians and friends in the horse world. Learning became an obsession as with every lesson and clinic I become a better partner to my horse. I joined a local horse club, enjoying and helping at fun nights and began competing in a local open show club. I enjoy participating in many disciplines alongside great horse mentors and friends along the way.

The mentorship of Jenna Mickelson’s horsemanship training has had the most profound affect on me and is the foundation of our lesson program. This foundation combined with the fresh and fun lesson plans developed by barn manager Veronica Enander have been the corner stone of our teaching.

I also attended schooling for equine sports therapy massage at Equiassage of Texas, graduating as a certified equine sports massage therapist in May 2017. I enjoy treating and helping horses reach better performance levels and assisting in speeding up their recovery results.

Along with my 40 + years of riding experience, I have been showing in Open and Quarter Horse shows over the past six years. I have experience in Halter, Showmanship, Horsemanship, English, English Equitation, Western Pleasure, Ranch Riding, Reining, Trail, Jumping, Barrels, and Poles. I have received top five placings in a number of different disciplines.

I am always eager to learn more and with my experiences comes the love to share with those wanting to improve riding skills or start the basics of riding. I am constantly continuing my own education by attending clinics and lessons. I also recently added working cow, ranch riding and ranch versatility clinics to further expand my knowledge.

While I certainly enjoy showing and competing with my horses, it is working with children of all ages alongside my barn manager, Veronica, that brings me the most joy. What I love most is watching as a rider gains confidence handling their horse and going through obstacles all while enjoying life lessons with their equine partner.

My husband Josh takes pride watching the children enjoy, and get excited using the new and many obstacles he builds. He plays a major part in the behind the scenes work that goes into the ground, maintenance and care of the property. (We couldn't do this without him!)

Seeing our students trust in their horse, gain confidence in themselves, and achieve their dreams through dedication and determination with a beaming smile on their face are the moments our crew lives for.

“That moment a rider becomes confidant and recognizes their achievement through their efforts is the most rewarding of all."

Veronica (Vern) Enander

Born and raised in Stanley, ND, I have been in love with horses since before I can remember! My great uncles and great-grandpa were the inspiration for my love of horses. I received my first horse, Daisy, a paint mare, at age five. From there on, I had a red roan mare named Holly, a gray gelding named Snoball, a black gelding named Sparky, a paint gelding named Denali and my heart horse, a sorrel gelding named Sonny who passed a few years ago.

I didn't have the time to compete in horse shows or rodeos due to sports and school, so I dedicated myself to Hippology (study of horses) and Horse-Judging in 4H and FFA. I studied very hard and found myself competing at Nationals in 2014 where I placed as 10th high individual in the nation and our team placed in the top 10 as well. I recently helped coach the Stanley FFA Horse Judging team after they placed 1st at State and then continued to take 6th place at nationals with 3 individuals placing within the top 15 at nationals! (My sister, Betty, placed 12th!) Riding for fun during my elementary and high-school years gave me my peace of mind. I learned everything I could from books, movies and videos. I graduated from Valley City State University with a major in history, minor in business and a speciality in education in 2020.

Teaching children has always been a passion of mine from being a ref at the lower levels for volleyball and basketball, coaching Horse-Judging teams, working at with horses, or just volunteering. After meeting Teresa in the fall of 2016, she introduced me into a whole new world. I started riding different breeds of horses and pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone. I found new passions in horse shows, barrel racing and horses altogether.

I love my horse Reya and all her crazy personality quirks as she takes me on new journeys often. She truly is one of a kind and has my whole heart. (We call her Cupcake because she's so thick and sweet!) I try to spend as much time with my family, especially my two sisters, Bethany and Daphne, as they bring me much joy. I often drag Bethany with to many horse events as she shares the passion for horses as well! I owe everything I am to my parents, who continue to support me as I dabble in a little bit of everything in my life.
