Horse Events

With our sister business, Northern Pines Equine, we offer community events for horseowners at local arenas throughout Western North Dakota. We strive to give horseowners a safe, learning environment to just have fun in! Although these are competitions we put good sportsmanship first and make sure to give everyone a high five out of the gate! Our events are a great place for beginner riders, young horses, kids and adults who just want to take a breath from stiff competition! Although we are always creating new events, our main events are Horsemanship Challenges, Snowdays, our Summer Playday Series and Horseshows.

Horsemanship Challenges

Our Horsemanship Challenges are similar to an obstacle challenge. However our Horsemanship Challenge is based on horsemanship and obstacles put together. Horsemanship maneuvers such as spins, lead changes, different gaits and obstacle efficiency are what we base scores on. There is a set pattern for riders to follow in a time limit (time limit does not affects scores or placing, only to keep our event moving along smoothly.) Horse and riders are judged on how well they complete the pattern. We have four different levels for riders: Open (Age 19 and up), Teen (Age 18-13), Junior (Age 12 and Under) and for just for horses under the age of 2 that have not been started under saddle: In Hand Class.

Summer Playday Series

Our Summer Playday Series is definitely a highlight of everyone's summer! This consists of four playdays throughout the summer where competitors can earn points at each of the four playdays towards the series prizes at the end of the summer  if they pay the membership fee. We also give out prizes at the conclusion of each playday as well. Some of the awards given out are: Sportsmanship Award, Fast Time Awards, Teamwork Awards, Tough Luck Awards and Overall Awards. The kids get ribbons for up to 5th place for each class as well. Classes vary between barrels, poles, egg and spoon , pass-a-mug, flag race and keyhole. This event is fun for the whole family!

Horseshows

Horseshows provide a more formal competition for horseowners to compete in classes such as showmanship, ranch riding, reining, trail, western pleasure along with some games at the end of the day. This is fun for the whole family as there are three different age divisions. We love seeing the kids work on a different skill set than what it takes for speed events. The adults love it to advance their skills for themselves and their horses!
